Varvara Bubnova in the State Museum of History of St. Petersburg
Herzen House Hotel are glad to inform you that during the period from August 16 to August 20 in the State Museum of History of St. Petersburg will be presented exhibition «Varvara Bubnova .Life Palette».
Varvara Dmitriyevna Bubnova personal exhibition (1886, Petersburg - 1983, Leningrad), working in Russia, Japan, Abkhazia. The exposition consists of more than 30 works from Barashkov’s (Moscow) private collection: water colors, drawings, lithographs of the Japanese and Abkhazian periods.
Works were saved in several wars, the part of paintings was considered earlier as the lost.
Varvara Dmitriyevna’s biography dazzles with the most interesting facts:
The artist Graduated from Imperial Academy of Arts, 36 years of the life lived in Japan, and she taught about 30 years Russian and literature course in higher education institutions of Tokyo. For a contribution to development of Japanese culture she was awarded the order the Precious crown of the fourth degree.
Varvara Dmitriyevna youngest sister Anna Dmitriyevna Bubnova-Ono has the same award. Not less creatively gifted violinist was one of the first who started to be engaged in a violin with children, before such lessons in Japan were taught only to adults. Anna Dmitriyevna Bubnova-Ono is an aunt of legendary Yoko Ono, who used to be John Lennon wife.
